SYDNEY

There’s so much to see and do in this fantastic city that words can’t even begin to describe the place, that won’t stop us trying of course! There’s the iconic Opera House and Harbour Bridge, Darling Harbour, Manly, Circular Quay and that merely scratches the surface of what Sydney has to offer. One of the finest cities in the world and the perfect place to begin this round trip motorcycle tour.

If you fancy taking advantage of some of what Sydney has to offer, why not let us organise a few extra nights accommodation for you at a superb city centre hotel?

NEW SOUTH WALES SOUTHERN COAST

There are more than 30 national parks scattered along the coastline of southern New South Wales, with incredible marine sanctuaries and nature reserves adding to the already pretty impressive count. The route follows the coast along the Grand Pacific Drive and over the famous Seacliff Bridge, a marvel of modern road building. It’s not possible to ride any closer to the ocean without actually getting wet.

KANGAROO VALLEY

The town going by the name ‘Kangaroo Valley’ is a tiny settlement [population about 400], boasting above average numbers of craft shops and art galleries. It’s probably something to do with the incredible setting and surrounding environment.

Rich green pastures, sparkling creeks, babbling brooks and smooth flowing rivers are all bordered by some magnificent rock escarpments. Toted by some as the “most beautiful valley in Australia”, it has changed very little in the last few hundred years and can boast being occupied at least 20,000 years before European settlement of Australia.

You might see a few kangaroos too of course.

BLUE MOUNTAINS

Named after the coloured tint the mountains take on when viewed from a distance, the Blue Mountains is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site and a motorcycle rider approved top quality area of Australia. Astounding scenery dominates the region at every turn with thundering waterfalls, the second largest canyon on earth, nerve jangling cable car rides, the steepest funicular railway in the world and some lovely walking tracks.

Check out the Three Sisters, Wentworth Falls and a plethora of other scenic lookouts, before riding a circular route back around the mountains.

HAWKESBURY RIVER VALLEY

Stretching from the Hawkesbury River to the heartlands and fertile plains around the foothills of the Blue Mountains, the Hawkesbury River Valley offers up some spectacular motorcycling opportunities.

The route winds through national parks, stunning countryside and over picturesque bridges. Lovely, convenient picnic spots and riverside communities offer plenty of opportunities to explore out of the saddle too.

HUNTER VALLEY

The Hunter region, more commonly known as the Hunter Valley, is the grape crushing heart of Australia’s wine production. Ride along sweeping minor roads, past the viewpoints, fast flowing rivers and gorges of the Wollemi National Park [Australia’s second largest] to the vineyards, top class restaurants and wineries of the Hunter Valley proper. The overnight accommodation for this part of the tour is a brief taxi ride from some of the most famous restaurants and wineries in the region, so there’s plenty of opportunities to sample the local produce. Arrive early and go on a wine tasting tour or savour the culture in a relaxed evening out amongst the vines!

The final day riding sees you shadowing the route of the Hawkesbury river as it seeks a path to Sydney and the ocean.

If you fancy taking advantage of some of what Sydney has to offer when you arrive back, why not let us organise a few extra nights accommodation for you at a superb city centre hotel? Just ask!

A NOTE REGARDING ACCOMMODATION:

Whilst this is a perfect tour for a long weekend it is important to remember that accommodation, especially in the Hunter Valley, can be difficult to find, particularly at short notice. Minimum numbers of nights usually apply and prices tend to be higher.

Of course the perfect solution would be to just keep riding all day and all night and we wouldn’t blame you as the roads around here are fantastic! But you’ll probably be so tuckered out after such an experience packed day in the saddle, that you’ll be wanting somewhere nice to lay your head for the night!

Best bet is to check with us first, if you think you’re schedule will include a Saturday in the Hunter Valley region, that way we can advise you of the costs involved.
