Motorcycle rental terms & conditions from Melbourne
Each depot has certain terms and conditions specific to them and their bikes. The information below is for specific bikes out of the Melbourne depot. Please contact us us with any queries.
Some terms and conditions apply to all rentals, and they are detailed in our general motorcycle rental terms and conditions.
When you collect your bike you must bring along your motorcycle license and your credit card. If you are from overseas you’ll also need your passport, your motorcycle riders license from your home country or your international motorcycle riders permit if your license is not in English.
› Unlimited kilometres
› Motorcycle insurance
› Cable / disc locks with road bikes
› Airport transfers - Tullamarine airport has a great shuttle bus service which can take you to the city centre for approximately AU$15. The drop off point is only a few minutes away from the depot
› Parking tickets, speeding fines and other penalties. [A $50 fee may be imposed for the handling of unpaid fines]
Riders of Harley Davidson bikes must be at least 25 years old. For all other bikes over 600cc capacity riders must be 23 or older. All riders must have a full motorbike license.
Breach of rental contract terms voids ALL insurance and renter is liable for ALL damage. Insurance DOES NOT cover 1) rider for bodily injury or damage/loss of personal belongings. Supplementary travel insurance is highly recommended. 2) loss of rental caused by extensive damage to the motorcycle rendering it unavailable for hire.
Motorcycle insurance cover is included in the rental charge. This includes damage to the motorcycle, third party person and property cover up to the full amount of the excess as seen on the pricing page. It does not include theft but cable/disk locks are supplied with all road bikes.
Note: Riders aged 25 or over can reduce the insurance excess to the same as the security bond for AU$16.00 per day.
A 30% non refundable deposit is normally required to reserve your motorcycle [minimum of AU$100], plus any one way fees that apply. An additional security deposit which is refunded when the bike is returned safely, must be paid using a credit card. There is a 1% fee charged for issuing the credit card security bond.
Monday-Friday: 8:30am to 6pm
Saturday: 9:00am to 1pm
Sunday and public holidays: Depot is closed, although drop-offs can be arranged.
Sunday collection and drop offs aren't always possible, but we will do our best to fit in with your plans.
In the event of a cancellation the following fees apply:
60 days and more prior to the start of the trip: 20%
59 to 31 days prior the start of the trip: 30%
30 days and less prior to the start of the trip: 50%
48 hours or less: 100% of the total fee
If the booking is for a one way trip from one city to another (e.g. Perth to Melbourne) and the bike has left Melbourne on its way to the other city (Perth in this example) and the cancellation comes after the bike has been shipped (typically 2 weeks before the pickup date) then the one way fees must be paid in full as part of the cancellation fee as the transport company will still have to be paid.
GPS units are available at the following cost:
AU$15 per day for 1 - 3 days
AU$12.50 for 4 - 6 days
AU$10 per day for 7 days or more
Please ask for costs for long rentals. An AU$500 bond is required at time of collection, which will be refunded upon safe return of the unit.
Bikes are normally provided with a full tank of fuel. Please ensure it is full when returned at the end of your trip. A $50 charge applies to motorcycles returned without a full tank of fuel.
You can drop off your motorcycle at any city and simply pay the freight costs of shipping the bike back to the depot.
Prices can vary but as a guide:
Melbourne to Sydney / Adelaide: AU$ 440
Melbourne to Brisbane: AU$ 549
Melbourne to Cairns: AU$ 849
Melbourne to Perth: AU$ 849
Melbourne to Darwin: AU$ 990
If you are collecting a Melbourne based bike in a different city and then riding it 'home', the final payment amount along with the relevant security bond will be processed just prior to the bike being shipped to your start destination.
BikeroundOz will arrange your rental and you will be required to sign a contract at the depot when collecting your bike. The legally binding contract for the hire will be between you and the depot and not with BikeRoundOz.
